Gap Kenya
We returned to see the exceptional work of Gayle and Paul and the team at Gap Kenya. The Joseph centre continues to support vulnerable women and children on the dump site providing education for the women and children. Gap hopes to find local safe accommodation for the ladies that attend so that they can sleep safely at night. While at the centre we were able to donate two sewing machines to help the women generate some income to support themselves and their children.
Gap Kenya’s stepping stones centre helps street boys and is now open three days a week and continues to educate, support and nurture the boys giving them a sense of belonging and guidance.
We’re delighted to see the 4wd we donated has arrived and is Helping the gap Kenya team support its projects. It gives Gap Kenya the flexibility to attend the dump site in all conditions with greater space for supplies and passengers.
Dharavi slum, India
In February we met up with our friend Depak an education coordinator in Dharavi slum, Mumbai, India. We have donated children’s books, physical education material and stationary in a recent shipment to assist the more impoverished children in getting a primary education. We also delivered a donation of soft toys.
The baby life rescue centre, Kenya
Our visit to the baby life rescue centre in Mombasa Kenya was both heartbreaking, and heartwarming, every child without a family is a tragedy, but this centre is very well run performing its duty of care with love and compassion while finding adoptive parents for as many orphaned children as possible. We will try to assist the centre over the coming year as best we can.
